Letter
from the President
Dear TBS Members,
Its practically September
and that
means its time for a new session for the club. The Executive is
working hard to bring a year full of great meeting we believe all of
us will enjoy and benefit from. But, the Executive could use a couple
of volunteers to fill some key positions. We are looking to find a
Journal Editor, a Librarian and someone to help with tools sales
Please speak with anyone of the Exceutive if your are interested.
Our first meeting is on
Monday
September 12, 2011. The beginner's session is at 6:30 upstairs in the
studios where John Biel will be leading a critique. The general
meeting begins at 7:30 in the Garden Hall, and there will be a
workshop and a demo on boxwood. The club has acquired 9 nursery stock
boxwood, 1 of which will be demo'd for the members who are not taking
part in the workshop, another 8 trees are available on a first come
first serve basis for $60. Please bring your money to the meeting and
see Cheryl and Linda to sign up. Check out the attached pictures to
see an average example of the available trees. As a size reference a
ruler 15 inches in length was placed next to the tree. Also, don't
forget that just because you didn't buy a tree, it doesn't mean you
can't bring one of your own to work on or put on the side table for
all to enjoy!
September is also the time
to renew
your membership. So bring your money and your completed form to the
meeting and Cheryl and Linda will be glad to renew your membership
for you. But, don't forget the completed form, it will ensure things
go a little quicker.
Looking ahead, we
have David Easterbrook visiting in October where he will be giving a
demo at our general meeting on Monday October 17 upstairs in the
studio. Also, there is still one spot available for the “bring your
own” tree workshop on Tuesday October 18th. The price is $120 for 8
hours with David Easterbrook. October is also the month we hold our
Fall Show which is being held on Sunday the 9th and Monday the 10th.
So be sure to get your trees looking their best, and bring them in
for exhibit.
See you at the meeting,
Keith Oliver
